Known as a powerful vocalist and entertainer, Mara is an American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers ASCAPLU$-award-winning singer-songwriter who rocks audiences with high-energy live shows all over the world. Her music can be heard in film and television, and has earned accolades from much of the music industry, including the prestigious Billboard and John Lennon Songwriting Contests and three nominations from the Los Angeles Music Awards. A native New Yorker, Mara jump-started her career playing on the streets and in the pubs of Scotland. In the states and overseas, Mara performs more than 100 live shows every year at high-profile festivals, colleges and clubs.
In college, Mara had a fibroadenoma removed from her breast just two months after her grandmother lost a 10-year battle with breast cancer. Since then, Mara has committed her time to various events raising funds and awareness, while donating a portion of every album sale to breast cancer research in memory of her grandmother and in tribute to other family members struggling with the disease.
