A talented and successful musician not content to be just another young survivor of cervical cancer, Christine was determined to make a difference in the lives of other young women so they might not have to face the same life-threatening diagnosis. She has since rebuilt her life and her musical career to unheralded peaks and taken back what was almost taken away: her soul, her creative spirit, and an enviable drive. Christine is the founder of Pop Smear, a Boston-based nonprofit organization whose purpose is to raise awareness of and educate others about cervical cancer. The organization recruits musicians around the world to perform benefit concerts (the Yellow Umbrella Tour) to raise awareness about this cancer, the virus that causes it (human papillomavirus, or HPV) and the modern technologies available to help prevent the disease.
